Perchance to Dream
Helsoder is one of the Holy Lands. A High Altar of Samarra is centrally located in the nation and guarded by a clan of Dragonborn. Unlike Nattvar and Himmeldon, Helsoder is almost completely flat (and desert), giving it the appearance of a barren wasteland. The population of Helsoder was depleted in their war with the Nattvarian giants nearly 200 years prior, and such the nation is made up of hundreds of nomadic tribes, who only recognize the leaders of their specific tribes. No hobbits, elves, eladrin, or other fey races live in Helsoder. Helsoder is really only a nation by virtue of Himmeldon’s decree as such when the war with Nattvar came to an end. Nattvar and Himmeldon recognize Lord Malachi of the High Altar clan as the nation’s ruler. Due to their nomadic nature, Helsoderi have no real national purpose…most tribes operate by their own motivations. However, all of the tribes are clearly focused on repopulating their people, and because of that (and their distinction of being the home of Samarra) females of the various races and tribes are revered. There is no real center of knowledge in Helsoder. Indeed, one would be hard pressed to find a town, with possible exception of the clan guarding Samarra’s High Altar. However, any of the many tribes would have elder sage-like members with a vast knowledge of the arcane, divine, primal…and occasionally the martial. On very hot days, the Astral Sea seems to flicker and dance on the vast plains of Helsoder.
